Wales’ leading fashion influencer features in new documentary movie out today
Vogue magazine’s Anna Wintour may take center stage but, here at TravelWales.org, we’re delighted to see Grace Coddington alongside her on the big screen. The September Issue is in UK and US movie theaters from today, and documents Editor-in-Chief Wintour and her editorial team putting together the September 2007 issue of the magazine.
Grace Coddington is Creative Director of Vogue magazine. She’s hugely influential in the fashion world. And she’s Welsh. She stars in the movie documentary.
Coddington now lives in New York after having spent several years as Fashion Director at British Vogue magazine. She was raised in Anglesey with her parents, William and Janie, running Trearddur Bay Hotel on the island. We hear that she is still very fond of Wales and Anglesey, and that her nephew lives on the island.
Grace Coddington has received many plaudits and is often heralded as one of the leading fashion influencers in the world. The Associated Press has said: "Coddington seems to pump passion and artistic integrity into the pages while not being swept up in the celebrity frenzy that seems synonymous with fashion these days." And, even for her role in The September Issue, the Chicago Tribune declared Coddington “the true star.”
This is definitely a film I want to see as soon as I get a chance. It was a delight touring Anglesey myself for a few days back in May; I wonder whether Grace gets back very often.
