Say cheese! - - speed dating in Cardiff
Wow - - where did August go? Anyway, happy September… at least we have the colorful autumnal season to look forward to, when our National Parks and countryside throughout Wales will be looking stunning.
We’re also looking forward to The Great British Cheese Festival, which takes place at Cardiff Castle later this month on September 26th and 27th.
The organizers have just announced some of the attractions this year. The one which caught my eye is Speed Dating! Seriously, this will be your opportunity to find your perfect cheese and drink pairing. With more than 400 cheeses available at one of the world’s biggest cheese markets, a little nudge in the right direction to help introduce you to your favorite cheese sounds like a good idea.
There’ll also be the World Cheese Tossing Championships – a game rather like croquet, with participants competing through heats to win a treasured trophy.
Look out for a wedding cake made entirely of cheese, and head to the “School for Big Cheeses” to participate in a range of master classes about cheese making. The master classes all sound intriguing… how about ‘Grappling with the Grape’ or ‘The Mouldy Old Welsh’ for starters?
This year, for the first time, the festival will include a “Welsh Homeland” featuring artisan cheese makers from across Wales.
