Torchwood stars drop in on Cardiff – photo post

Are you a fan of Torchwood? I must confess that I only started watching it on BBC America because it’s set in Cardiff; but now I’m addicted.

HuffingtonPost.com – one of the world’s biggest Internet newspapers – declared Torchwood: Children of Earth to be “The television event of the summer. In fact, this is one of the finest television productions you will see all year.”

While BBC America is midway through showing Torchwood: Children of Earth right now, John Barrowman is heading to San Diego to feature on a panel at Comic-Con alongside Russell T Davies and Julie Gardner on July 26th.

The stars of Torchwood - John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Gareth David-Lloyd – paid a flying visit to Cardiff a few days’ ago, arriving in style…

Torchwood and Doctor Who are both set in Cardiff, but it’s Torchwood where Cardiff Bay is most recognizable on screen. The hidden lift entrance to the Hub is seen by thousands of people each day as the water sculpture located outside the Wales Millennium Centre. The front entrance can be seen on the waterfront near the restaurant and bar area of Mermaid Quay – I was there in January and spotted the entrance seen on screen when they have pizzas delivered: the door to Ianto’s tourist information center.

Other Cardiff locations include Cardiff City Hall, Cardiff Castle and the Millennium Stadium as well as various streets and venues across the city.

I had a lot of fun checking out the filming locations along Cardiff Bay, which is why I’m particularly enjoying now seeing them on screen.

"When you see Cardiff on film, it looks like LA - - it looks amazing. I think a lot of people are going to want to come here, not just because of Torchwood but because it's such a great place - - it's buzzing every single day and it's beautiful." John Barrowman (Captain Jack)
